Warriors to host Eagles

Fourth-placed Stawell will play eighth-placed Warrack in round nine of the Wimmera Football Netball League this Saturday.

With a record of four wins and three losses, Stawell had the bye last Saturday, while Warrack (one and six) lost their fifth game this season by under 22 points.

They were defeated by Dimboola, 8.10 (58) to 6.8 (44).

Coach of the Eagles, Matt Walder, described their opposition this week in Stawell as a "stable and steady side".

"They've got some power forwards, a couple of towering rucks, and they move the ball well enough around these fellas to give them ample opportunities to score and produce winning scores," he said.

"We are going to have to shut them down in our defensive 50 as much as we can to minimise their impact in scoring, but quell the big men through the middle too.

"We halve things in the middle, we give ourselves a chance to have the footy in our forward territory and not the other way."

Walder said there was a bit of gumption about the group, and they hang in there until the end of each game.

"We know teams have to play well to get over us, but we just have to find a way to be more dangerous and get over the top of the opposition," he said.
