Smash outplays opponents

The Horsham Badminton Association’s Winter Competition continued on May 26 with an exciting Round 4, showcasing high-energy rallies, strategic pairings, and standout performances across both A and B Grades.

Smash Stars vs Ace Avengers

Smash Stars powered through with a commanding 457- 338 points win over Ace Avengers.

Wajahat Ali led from the front, winning all three of his doubles and a singles match against Joel Beggs.

His teammates, Paul Robertson, Timothy Lee and Lisa Heal, also contributed to the win.

RESULT: Smash Stars defeated Ace Avengers by 7 sets to 3, 16 games to 7 and 457 to 338 total points.

Net Ninjas vs Shuttle Shifters

In the closest A Grade match of the round, Net Ninjas edged past Shuttle Shifters by 514 - 496 points.

Luke Dunn dominated for the home side with two doubles wins and a singles win against Josh Dunn.

While Shuttle Shifters fought hard with multiple matches reaching deuce situations, the Ninjas came out on top, winning 16 games and 7 sets compared to the Shifters’ 11 games and 3 sets.

RESULT: Net Ninjas defeated Shuttle Shifters by 7 sets to 3, 16 games to 11 and 514 to 496 total points.

Drop Shot vs Drive

In a tightly contested fixture, Drive clinched the win over Drop Shot by 4 sets to 3.

Although Drop Shot scored more points (312 - 294), Drive players claimed more games and sets.

Drive’s Tojo Joseph became the hero of the match after winning all four sets, including three doubles and one singles.

Drop Shot’s Casey Moreland fought hard for her team by winning two doubles.

RESULT: Drive defeated Drop shot by 4 sets to 3 and 9 games to 8.

Smash vs Volley

Team Smash dominated their fixture against Volley, winning by 309 - 199 points and claiming all seven sets of the match.

Phoebe Whittaker was outstanding, won all her doubles and a singles match against Whitney O’Sullivan.

Smash won 14 games and 7 sets, far ahead of Volley’s 1 game win, cementing their control across the court.

RESULT: Smash defeated Volley by 7 sets, 14 games to 1 and 309 to 199 total points.
