Rainbow Rises planting postponed
The Rainbow and District Landcare Group’s planting day event has been postponed to Saturday, August 16, due to weather conditions and a seasonal surge in cold and flu cases.
“The local community is battling a severe outbreak of winter colds and flu, and the forecast wet weekend means we can’t expect people to come out, and they need to stay inside and keep warm,” Landcare group president Bruce Henrich said.
“Putting the event back three weeks to August 16 means the weather should be better, and the site should be better for any rain that falls between now and then”.
“The landcare group is heavily reliant on local volunteers to do the planting, just as all community groups rely so much on local volunteers with projects such as this, the Rainbow Lake, the Enduro Events.”
The group is seeking up to 40 volunteers to plant 2,500 plants, and the planting will take place at the Rainbow Rises, the yearly Enduro events site.
