Plan for fire season - For the first time in the state, communities can create a fire plan online
As much of Victoria mops up after a week of savage downpours - and much of the Wimmera basks in the first of the summer heatwaves - state emergency chiefs are warning of many more hot, dry days ahead.

A wet three years followed by a very dry winter and spring has led to above-normal levels of fuel, and an increased risk of fires in western and central Victoria.
Victoria’s emergency management sector is continuing its preparedness for bushfire season, and is urging householders and property owners to do the same.
“Alongside our interagency partners, CFA crews across the state have been working closely with their local areas and brigade members to ensure we are best prepared for the proposed conditions,” CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan said.
“While we’re ready to respond and support communities as we do every year, now is the time for Victorians to prepare their families, and their property and review their Bushfire Survival Plan.”
Victoria SES chief officer Tim Wiebusch said: “Our message for this high-risk season is to always be prepared, but not alarmed, based on the current climate outlook.”
For the first time in the state, communities also can create a fire plan online, customised to their needs and sharable with family and friends.
