Kevin, son of Colin and Marj Thewlis, had an extensive cricket career that began at Lah as a 10-year-old, filling in when the team was short, and where Colin also played. When Lah disbanded in 1963, Kevin began playing at Brim, which is where his cricket career really began.

When work took him to Cobram roughly 50 years ago, he immediately became involved in the local cricket club.

He played 223 A-grade games for the Cobram Cricket Club, including eight A-grade premierships, scoring 100, 92, and 89 runs, and was captain of two of these premiership sides.

He played in two A Reserve Premierships, scoring 103 in one of them. Kevin represented the MVCC 37 times, 32 of which were in Melbourne for Country week; 21 of these, he was a player and team manager.

Kevin retired from playing at the age of 55, but continued to be involved in the cricket club by taking up lead positions on committees and the cricket board, and by umpiring.

He is a Life Member of the Cobram Cricket Club. Kevin is still an avid cricket follower, and he enjoys watching Cobram cricket and catching up with friends when in town.

Kevin's family travelled from Noose, Geelong, Tanunda, and Warracknabeal to join him in the celebration.
