The group plays on a Wednesday, generally teeing off at 11am.

The scribe was away so I'll catch us up on the happenings this week and then try to keep up weekly.

We did not start with confidence in numbers like our male members.

The first week we had three ladies play a stroke round with Helen Fisher being the winner on 103-39-64.

It was an excellent score – the handicapper did catch up with her after this amazing start to the year.

We had a week with no players due to all the holidays.

Last Wednesday saw four ladies play par.

I don’t think par is anyone’s favourite game and the scores were not really exciting but Helen again came in as the winner this week with -4, even though her handicap had dropped to 36.

Debbie and Joy both had gobblers so it was good to see the ladies getting their aims lined up.

Then we played a stableford round.

Debbie Lowe took the honours this time with 32 stableford points.

And we had five players or four and a half as Pam played only nine holes.

There is plenty of room on the course for more.

Men are also welcome to join on a Wednesday.

After the rain there is a tinge of green on the course, the best time to start playing as the dustbowl has gone we hope for the whole season.

The course was lovely to see and play on.

We thank all the volunteers who spend many many hours trimming, mowing, spraying and maintaining everything in tip-top condition.

If anyone is a beginner or thinking about whether golf's for them, we're happy to support them and allow play of three, six or nine holes.

We can supply clubs on loan too until you see if you will become a regular.

We have fun activities during the year and also some meals in the clubhouse or at local eateries.

If 11am does not suit you we can accommodate that too with notice.

Next week we'll play the first round of our championships.

This is stroke and hotly contested.

We hope to see all lady members there.

It's also captain's day and we'll have a meal afterwards.

Contact captain Debbie for more details.

The following week is listed to be the first round of club foursomes so get your names in if intending to play so a draw can be organised.
